Valentine Crispie Treats

Here are the ingredients: mini marshmallows, butter, vanilla, food coloring (I used gel, but you can use liquid too) and crispy rice cereal.

Spray a 9×13 pan with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.  Place your crispy rice cereal in a large bowl (you’ll need one big enough to mix and fold in the marshmallow mixture.)

First place your marshmallows in a microwave safe bowl. Then add the butter in pieces to the marshmallows and then add vanilla.

Microwave in 30 second intervals; mixing after each interval, until the mixture is smooth. It can take a few minutes, so be patient.

Add your food coloring and stir to thoroughly combine. Keep adding food coloring until you get to your desired shade. I wanted a dark pink color.

Pour the marshmallow mixture in the bowl with the crispy rice cereal.

Using a large rubber scrapper or wooden spoon, fold everything to thoroughly coat the crispy rice cereal with the marshmallow mixture.

Firmly pack the mixture into a prepared 9×13 pan. You can use your hand OR I’ve found that using the bottom of a glass or measuring cup helps to get it packed well.

Once they have cooled, you can cut them. It’s cute to cut them into heart shapes if you have a cutter.

Or they are also pretty cute in a standard square bar. They taste the same. And you can get more bars depending on the size of your cutter.
